Worshipful Masters Message

As Worshipful Master, I welcome you to the Web Page of

Orlando Lodge
No 69 F. A. & M..

We hope and trust that your interest in Freemasonry which has led you to our web page will be enhanced by the information contained herein. along with the links which may take you to other web pages which provide even more detailed information about Freemasonry. Orlando Lodge No. 69, I can indicate to you that we are, as you may have guessed a Lodge which is deeply steeped in the city of Orlando's history and landmarks.  Our history goes back more than 136 years of continuous service to the community and our members When considering Freemasonry it is important that you keep in your mind the fact that we are not a religion and our membership is drawn from all different beliefs. Our aim is self improvement. We trust you will find the information you are looking for within this site.  If you require any further information, then please do not hesitate to make contact with us, remembering that we are not a secret society, but rather a fraternal organization which enhances the enjoyment of its members by a beautiful system of morality, veiled in allegory and illustrated by symbols. This having been said, most of the mysteries of Freemasonry are easily revealed by the progress a Mason makes within the organization. Once again, welcome to our Web Page and when you leave please take with you the sincere and genuine good wishes of Orlando Lodge No. 69.

Yours fraternally

From the East

My Brothers,

Brothers of Orlando Lodge No. 69, by the time you receive this Trestle Board the Lodge will be one month in our second quarter. As many of you know our first quarter charity was “The Russell Home for Atypical Children” located 510 Holden Avenue, Orlando, Florida 32839. On our first stated communication of our second quarter we had a representative from the Home to give us a brief talk about their cause and your Lodge presented them with a check for $250.00, a collection from our Charity Plate.

Our second quarter Charity is “The Mustard Seed of Central Florida” located at 12 Mustard Seed Lane, Orlando, Florida 32810 a non-profit, 501(c)(3) charitable organization. The Mustard Seed collects donations of furniture, appliances, household items, toys, as well as anything and everything needed to create a home.  They grant the donated items to families and individuals to help them re-establish a home. Since 1984, The Mustard Seed has served the homeless, domestic violence victims, welfare recipients, the elderly, the disabled, disaster victims, the ill and others struggling to re-develop a home in the Central Florida area. For the Brothers who for whatever reason, whether it be because you live out of state or can’t make it to Lodge if you wish to contribute to your Lodge second quarter Charity please send a check to Orlando Lodge No. 69 with a memo stating for Mustard Seed.

Now for some housekeeping. Grand Lodge requires us to publish our Committee’s at least once in our Trestle Board squarely so here it is:

From the West

My Brothers,

As we continue to fly through this year, new and exciting opportunities have been presenting themselves. I plan on meeting with the Senior Wardens from the other Lodges in the district as well as trying to reach outside of the district to plan fun events to bring our Lodges closer together. I would also like to get an idea of any Brothers that would be interested in participating in the Tough Mudder and Warrior Dash events next year. Anyone with an interest, please contact me.

From the Scribe

My Brothers,

My Brothers, another month has come and gone, and most you still have remained away from the lodge, for reasons known only to you. It is a mystery to me why one would join and remain in absentia, perhaps one day you can explain it to me. Perhaps there are things going on to which you object, ever consider that you presence might change those things, your input might sway the lodge in another direction, we will never know, you don't come. There was a recent story in the Scottish Rite Journal, about "pretend masons" men that have gone through the several degrees, gone through the catechisms, and from that point on, have done nothing, no meetings, no sitting in chairs, no assumption of responsibility, no teaching of newly initiated, passed or raised Brothers, but you carry a dues card, and proudly say I AM A MASTER MASON, but are you? Enough Said?

By the pen,

Bob Johnson

Child ID Events

Brothers

Our District ID Team has two Child ID events to cover. The first on is on March 11th at 10 am. The address is 50 Moss Rd in Winter Springs. The event will be from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. We should have about 40 to 50 kids. A small event and would offer a great opportunity for everyone to get some experience. Please E Mail me to let me know you can make this event.

The next district event will be at the Scottish Rite on March 24th. This is during the military show. We did about 60 kids last year and we will only operate on Sat. You need to be at the Rite by 10:00 am as the kids start showing up then. The most come around mid day! Again E mail me to let me know you will help.

Keep in mind you only stand as tall when you stoop to help a child!

  • Some Biblical passages in Masonry
    masonic bible

The history of the evolution of our Craft supports my argument that many of the Biblical passages in the ritual actually dates from the time around the Enlightenment period to suggest in a subtle way the need to intellectually break free from the stranglehold the Church has on the mind of the time, thus freeing the minds and brought about the flourishing of science and technology that we see today. A paper by W.Bro. Ronald Paul Ng, Lodge of St. George No. 1152, United Grand Lodge of England.
