Trestleboard August 2011
July 4th was a great day for Orlando Lodge #69 with our 2nd annual picnic at the Bahia Shrine. Over 80 Brothers, family & friends stopped by to enjoy the event that included bounce houses for kids and Shrine Roadrunner go carts for the bigger kids, like us. What better way to celebrate our nation's independence than by enjoying the day with Brothers. By the time you read this we will have had our Official Visit by the new District Deputy Grand Master, RW Steve Teal. It will be a special night as Steve is a good friend. We will share his and he MWGM's agenda with you next month. The Long Range Planning Committee is still looking at opportunities for our Lodge to grow into the future. One component will be looking at our current building. In
preparation for their recommendations and in keeping with our long standing plan, please make a contribution to our Building Fund so that we will be able to maintain our high level of service to the Craft. Be safe and enjoy the remainder of the summer. If you have not been to a Stated Communication lately, please come on down and experience the heightened level of fellowship for yourself.
On the Square,
Rickey Ricks
My Brothers, I wish to thank everyone who came to our 2th annual 4th of July family picnic, if you missed it you sure missed alot of fun and fellowship. I would also like to thank Brother Fred Kidwell and other people who helped organize, and clean up. Two other bits of news I must announce, as chairman of the 17th district ritual committee, we will be meeting at our Lodge (Orl69) on every second Saturday at 3pm to pratice. All Master Masons are welcome and encouraged to attend and or participate. and finally, Orlando Lodge 69's Past Masters night and dinner is scheduled for September 24th at 7pm. We will be serving Prime Rib and all the fixings with a singer to follow. $12 dollars for one, $20 for a couple. Please mark your calendar.
On the Level,
James C. Jones
July was a great month and we should all thank the brothers who made the 4th of July party a great success, just another reason O69 is leading the way for the proud 17th Masonic district! As always, there are many new faces to meet at the stated communications, so for all of you that have not been to lodge in a while, it’s not the same old lodge anymore.

Ten Master Masons, happy, doing fine;
One listened to a rumor, then there were nine.
Nine Master Masons, faithful, never late;
One didn't like the "Master," then there were eight.
Eight Master Masons, on their way to heaven;
One joined too many clubs, then there were seven.
Seven Master Masons, life dealt some hard licks;
One grew discouraged, then there were six.
Six Master Masons, all very much alive;
One lost his interest, then there were five.
Five Master Masons, wishing there were more;
Got into a great dispute, then there were four.
Four Master Masons, busy as could be;
One didn't like the programs, then there were three.
Three Master Masons, was one of them you?
One grew tired of all the work, then there were two.
Two Master Masons with so much to be done;
One said "What's the use," then there was one.
One Master Mason, found a brother -- true!
Brought him to the Lodge, then there were two.
Two Master Masons didn't find work a bore;
Each brought another, then there were four.
Four Master Masons saved their Lodge's fate;
By showing others kindness, then there were eight.
Eight Master Masons, loving their Lodges bright sheen;
Talked so much about it, they soon counted sixteen.
Sixteen Master Masons, to their obligations true;
Were pleased when their number went to thirty-two.
So we can't put our troubles at the Lodge's door;
It's our fault for harming the Lodge we adore.
Don't fuss about the programs or the "Master" in the East;
Keep your obligation by serving even the very least.
