Trestleboard July 2010

Orlando Lodge No. 69, Trestleboard for July 2010

From the East: My Brothers, as I sit here and watch the temperature gauge climb, as well as the heat index, I just feel drained of my energy and strength. But one thing I look forward to that reenergizes me is our Lodge.

This year alone we have held degree after degree, informational programs for our members, fellowship, good hot meals and even a nice cool Lodge to beat the heat in.

By the time you receive this, the year will be half over and we will be looking down the road towards the holidays and family fellowship. If the second half goes anything like the first half, we will not even slow down, but may actually speed up!

Come beat the heat, join us for Lodge and see the Gavel in its’ new home. On the Square, Greg

From the West: Grand Lodge has come and gone and our Lodge was well represented. A number of legislative issues were cussed and discussed. We passed a few that made little sense to your Officers, but the majority prevails. We will discuss some of them soon at Lodge. Fred Kidwell did a great job leading the crew by hosting the 17th District Hospitality Suite for Grand Lodge. The food was good enough to draw in Brothers from all over the State, including a number of Past Grand Masters, the current elected line and our own MW Brother Dale.

It is party time again on the 4th of July as we, as a Lodge, come together to celebrate what our fore-brothers put together in forming this more perfect union. Please come celebrate with us at Bahia Shrine Center from 10 am to 4 PM for the picnic and fun for the kids. This will be a wonderful opportunity for all of us to spend time having fun, catching up on each other lives and enjoying Masonry in a special way. Your line officers will be helping to serve the food (not prepare it) so it will still be eatable. We hope to see you there, On the Level, Rickey

From the South: Time is flying by and the year is past half and speeding up. Tonight I had the pleasure of watching 6 new candidates receive the EA degree. As I listened to the lecture I thought of what I would say to the new brothers.  This is what came to mind. “As you take your first step on that journey of freemasonry you should realize that it is a journey that will not end, not at least while you are on this earth. The amount of energy and enthusiasm that you put into the fraternity will directly affect the amount of joy and happiness that you will receive from it. It is a journey for knowledge, truth and light. It is a journey that the brethren present are honored to be part of, just as the new EA’s are now part of each of our journeys’.” This is still true for all of us; we must fight the evil in life that threatens to divert us from the search for light, By the Plumb, Craig

From the ScribeMidyear my Brothers, and it is that time of year when I am required to notify some of you that you have not yet paid your dues for the year. Not something to which I look forward, but it is a necessity, please if you get a letter, please send your dues in promptly, and please help us avoid having to suspend you for non-payment of dues, also something to which I do not look forward. If you are having difficulty in your personal life that is precluding your being able to pay your dues, please let the Worshipful Master of myself know, there are things that can be done. On another note, please join us on the 4th of July at the Bahia Shrine pavilion, 10 AM to 4 PM, family fun. Bob “the pen is mightier than the sword, because it brings illumination.

  • Some Biblical passages in Masonry
    masonic bible

The history of the evolution of our Craft supports my argument that many of the Biblical passages in the ritual actually dates from the time around the Enlightenment period to suggest in a subtle way the need to intellectually break free from the stranglehold the Church has on the mind of the time, thus freeing the minds and brought about the flourishing of science and technology that we see today. A paper by W.Bro. Ronald Paul Ng, Lodge of St. George No. 1152, United Grand Lodge of England.
