Trestleboard January 2011

Orlando Lodge No. 69, Trestleboard for January 2011

From the East: My Brothers, Let me first say that it has been an honor to be your Worshipful Master this year! As you have heard me say on many occasions, I may be the Master, but you the Craft are the Lodge! I have been blessed with a great year! Degrees; Travel; Gavel; Lodge Picnic, and the Christmas Party. I had a long list of things I wanted to do and there are many thing still on the list. The most important thing I feel I accomplished was an increase in Fellowship and Brotherly Love. I have watched many new faces come into the Lodge and have seen a return of many of our members. We have traveled to many Lodges, and most specific, it has been a long time since we at Orlando have kept the Gavel for as long as we have!

It seems like just yesterday I was writing my first message as your Junior Warden and now I write my last as your Master.

Thank you my Brothers for the great ride and support! On the Square, Greg

From the West: My Brothers, You have no idea. No really, you have no idea what last Tuesday night meant to me as we concluded the election process. To think that you had enough confidence in me to accept the helm of the premiere lodge of Central Florida, the lodge with the richest history and greatest traditions has left me awestruck. W.: Bro. Greg has launched us forward with his vision to see Orlando Lodge truly enjoying Freemasonry as it should be. What he has really done is make my job far more difficult and I promise to strive to keep the momentum going. But all I can do is draw designs on the Trestle Board, it is each of you that must step up and carry out the work of the Craft. With the leading of the Great Architect of the Universe and the help of Brother Jim Jones as our new Sr. Warden, Brother Marshal Dees as our new Jr. Warden, the continued leadership of  W.: Bob Johnson as our Secretary and Brother Scott Roberts as our Treasurer assisted by each of the other brothers who have accepted a role as an  officer we can continue moving to even greater heights in accomplishing that which we came here to do. By subduing our passions, living within the circle bounded by the Holy Saints John, topped with the Great Lights and living out the principles we have learned we will bring pleasure to ourselves and honor to the fraternity. Thank you my Brothers and let’s charge into this next year make it a banner year for Freemasonry in general and Orlando Lodge in particular. On the Level, Rickey

From the South: As the year ends we can look back and see all the accomplishments of Orlando 69. As Worshipful Greg says, it’s the members of the lodge that make it great. But I think we need to recognize the great leadership Greg has given the lodge this year. It has motivated the members to higher things. Personally, I would like to thank all those who helped in the Kitchen, you all did a great job and no one was left hungry! I am looking forward to next year with brother Ricks, I’m sure the lodge will continue to grow!  We have raised a lot of new members this year and there are many waiting, but we have to remember it is not enough just to raise all these new members, we have to have reasons for them to return to the lodge.  It is up to all of us to bring new ideas to the lodge to keep it new and exciting for every one. By the Plumb, Craig

From the Scribe: My Brothers, my thanks for the faith and trust you have placed in me for another year as your Secretary. I am not perfect by any means, but I will give you my best efforts. My congratulations to W/M Elect Rickey Ricks, S/W Elect “Budlight Jones”, and J/W Elect Marshall Dees, and to our Treasurer Brother Roberts, and to those on the appointed line waiting for installation, Chaplain Brother Diaz, Senior Deacon, Brother MacKenzie, Junior Deacon, Brother Mihoover, Senior Steward, Brother Stiner, Junior Steward, Brother Klatt, Marshall, Brother Buchanan, and Tyler Brother Lively. I look forward to working with all of you to help move Orlando Lodge No. 69 forward into a new decade, and a brighter future. By the pen, Bob

  • Some Biblical passages in Masonry
    masonic bible

The history of the evolution of our Craft supports my argument that many of the Biblical passages in the ritual actually dates from the time around the Enlightenment period to suggest in a subtle way the need to intellectually break free from the stranglehold the Church has on the mind of the time, thus freeing the minds and brought about the flourishing of science and technology that we see today. A paper by W.Bro. Ronald Paul Ng, Lodge of St. George No. 1152, United Grand Lodge of England.
