WE DID IT!!!!
My Brothers, for the first time in over 20 years (depending on whose numbers
it may be as high as 28 years) the members of Orlando Lodge #69 exemplified
both the first & second sections of the Master Mason degree. If you have been
following the news in the Trestleboard this year you know that we are
processing a record number of candidates for the degrees. In September our
Fellowcraft class of ten brothers returned an outstanding catechism, thanks to
their primary instructor Brother Robb Sheetz. So, on September 30 and again
on October 4 we conducted back to back Master Mason degrees. We were
blessed with assistance from our District Instructor RH Ed Sexton, Past DDGM
Chet King and W Ralph Pugh on the September 30th degree due to several of
our brothers being out of town. They did wonderfully and we are so grateful for
their assistance. On Tuesday Oct 4 all the second section part were from our
own flock, including a new Jubala played by Brother Kevin Spears, who was
one of the newly raised brothers from the Saturday degree. How is that for
jumping in and getting involved. Our current DDGM, RW Steve Teal was in
attendance on Tuesday. W Brother Ricky Simmons from Oviedo Lodge gave
the lecture for both degrees and we are so very grateful to him for that. If you
have not heard W. Brother Rick give a lecture you have missed a real treat. He
does far more than recite the lesson, he takes you on a journey and captivates
your attention. Brother Fred Kidwell once again provided wonderful meals for
the everyone on these special occasions. This, my Brothers, is indeed news of
importance! I feel as though we have turned a corner in the life of our Lodge
by re-establishing the ability to conduct our own complete Master Mason
degree. Oh, by the way we also had six Entered Apprentices return their
catechism on the same night as the FC so now we have to prepare for a
Fellowcraft degree for them. And we have another group of EAs coming
behind them and more petitions being investigated for ballot soon.
All this is on top of the wonderful Past Masters and Widows night dinner put on
by our Senior Warden Brother James Jones.
If you have not come down to the Lodge lately please come and see what is
going on at our little lodge on South St.

From the West

My Brothers,
I would like to thank all the honored guests and Past Masters we had at our
Past Masters Dinner in late Sept., Thank You! We must always remember
our Past Masters are the foundation of our Lodge. The legacy, wisdom and
knowledge they leave us, will teach us that the light which is behind us is
not only a source of experience that should be referenced, but also should
help guide us by illuminating our path. October was in my opinion a good
example of there guidance. The two Master Mason degree's we did back to
back, 1st & 2th sections could not of happened as it did without their
experience. Our Lodge has so many events planned in to coming weeks we
need you my Brothers, all members to come join us at Lodge and enjoy the fellowship.

From the South

My Brothers,
Fall is here. The weather is cooler, the holidays are nearer and we are
more active than we have ever been. A big thank you to all involved in
the second section of the Master Mason degree. The DDGM was
present and expressed how impressed he was with the performance.
Small steps like this are the ones needed to pave a new path for
Orlando 69.

From the Scribe

My Brothers,
For those of you whose cable tows were too short to afford you the
opportunity to join us on the 1st and the 4th of October, you missed a show.
We now have 10 brand new Master Masons, and for the first time in some
time; the 2nd Section was was done with predominately Orlando 69
Brothers; a sight to behold. Worshipful Brother Andy Anderson portrayed
Most Excellent King Solomon and did so with great skill, as though he had
been doing it continuously for years. Kudos Brother Andy. Congratulations
to all of those that took roles in the presentation, it was well done, not
perfect, but well done.

  • Some Biblical passages in Masonry
    masonic bible

The history of the evolution of our Craft supports my argument that many of the Biblical passages in the ritual actually dates from the time around the Enlightenment period to suggest in a subtle way the need to intellectually break free from the stranglehold the Church has on the mind of the time, thus freeing the minds and brought about the flourishing of science and technology that we see today. A paper by W.Bro. Ronald Paul Ng, Lodge of St. George No. 1152, United Grand Lodge of England.
