Trestleboard December 2011
December Trestleboard
From the East
We are on the downhill slide and what a slide it has been this year. We will soon be installing a new Worshipful Master to lead our Lodge into 2012 and I will join the ranks of the “Has Beens”. May I take a moment to say what an awesome pleasure and responsibility it has been to serve you this year. Clearly, Orlando Lodge #69 continues to lead the way in expressing Freemasonry in our Community. You, the Brothers of this Lodge, have made this a most memorable year and one of which we should be duly proud.
As we approach this holiday season we have so much for which to be thankful, both in our personal lives and in the life of our Lodge. I hope you and your family enjoy the season of Thanksgiving and do so in a manner to bring homage to the purpose of the season. It is not only to eat lots of turkey and dressing but to stop and contemplate the wonder and majesty of the Great Architect of the Universe. To take time and acknowledge His power and deity and give God the thanks He so richly deserves. Just as our early ancestors thanked Him for bringing them through a difficult year so should we thank Him. Brother Kidwell will be taking this one step further on the Saturday after Thanksgiving Day to host those who do not have family nearby and who wish to come down to the Lodge for a time of fellowship and good food.
R.: W.: Curtis Johnson is chairing the first meeting of the Building Redesign Committee on Monday November 21. There will be the return of Master Mason’s catechism and Bible & Apron presentation by our DDGM Steve Teal on Tuesday November 22, 2011. The elections of new principle officers will be held on Tuesday December 13, 2011 so come down and let your voice be heard. We will be hearing the return of a Fellowcraft Catechism that night as well. That’s not to mention the arrival of Santa himself on Saturday December 10 during our regular monthly breakfast. Please bring your children to see our favorite Santa, Mrs. Clause and our own Obie Elf that morning. Bring a toy with you that we can send to the Central Florida Children’s Home. Wow, there is still a lot of work to do so come on down and join the fun.

My Brothers,
I would like to thank all the Brothers who in the last year have made the Lodge grow. We have seen many new faces, events and the year isn't even over yet. Our Lodge has so many events planned in to coming weeks we need you my Brothers not to work but to join us, especially at our Breakfast with Santa Dec. 10. Come join us at Lodge and enjoy the fellowship. I would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas, Happy holidays, and a great New Years!

My Brothers,
It still amazes me that this year is coming to an end. I can't begin to decide where to start on how much we have accomplished this year. Our numbers have been increasing, we have begun our plans for our future building, and let's not forget that we now have our own second section for the Master Mason degree. Let us use these holiday months to shine the Light of Free Masonry into our community. It is a time of giving. I will always cherish the gift of Brotherhood that I have received from all of you.

My Brothers,
By the time you get this Trestleboard, you will have received your dues notices for 2012. Please pay them as promptly as you can. It is also my duty to remind several you that you have not paid your dues for 2011, all of you have a lot of time invested in Masonry to get as far as you have, please do not let that time go to waste by being suspended for NPD. I wish all of you the best of tidings for the Christmas Season, and the best of everything in the coming year.
